My Credit Union Matters!

Let Ottawa know that “My Credit Union Matters!”

Credit unions are a crucial part of Canada’s economy. Every year, they put billions into local communities through loans, investments, and community projects. This kind of activity is the foundation of strong local economies.

But Ottawa doesn’t always understand credit unions and recently they’ve decided to tax credit unions the same as banks. Canada’s credit unions are asking the federal government to announce in budget 2015 a new tax measure that recognizes that credit unions are different.

To get there, Ottawa needs to hear from you. You can remind Ottawa that My Credit Union Matters! by visiting a new web site launched by Credit Union Central of Canada, the national trade association for the credit union system.

Visit (or in French) today to:

  • Send a letter to the federal Minister of Finance to remind Ottawa that credit unions aren’t like banks and shouldn’t be taxed the same.
  • Click on “Share your Story” to add your voice to others talking about how credit unions make a positive difference for families, businesses and communities.
  • Get your friends involved by sharing the site on Facebook, or on Twitter using the #myCUmatters tag.
